Welcome to Warlingham First XV

We have been promoted twice in 4 years after a torrid few years struggling to stay in Surrey Division One.

The turn round came when several players matured through the Youth Section and, in recent years, on several occasions we have fielded the whole First XV from players coming through the Junior structure.

With a current average age of only 24 years Warlingham’s First XV has high hopes of staying in contention for promotion during the current season, and, if results go our way, there is still a slim chance of achieving that objective. A couple of narrow losses have reduced our prospects but the team is learning from their First XV experiences and we expect them to be improving game upon game and season upon season.  There is fierce competition for places and our regular training nights (Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7.30pm) draw up to 30 players – all keen to be considered for the premier side of the Club.

At the start of this season we also welcomed several new players to the Club and at least four of them are now regular first teamers.  We pride ourselves in being a friendly, welcoming club where we play hard for each other – both on the pitch and socially.

Our current captain, Tom Street, is a product of our Youth Section, and, apart a stint at Macclesfield RFC (National Division II) whilst he was at Loughborough University, he has been a loyal member of the club and typically, leads from the front.  He is undoubtedly one of the best flankers the club has produced and is monotonously on the try score sheet.

With probably the best facilities in the County we welcome new players of all ability who are sure to slot into one of the five regular senior teams we field each Saturday.

The infamous Warlingam ‘alikadoos’ follow the First XV all over the South East and we invariably outnumber the opposition supporters – both home and away!
